HER PLACE IS IN SKIN
This photo series, led by the creative team at Her Place Is In, brought together 30+ women, most of whom did not know one another. Wearing no makeup and posing in outfits styled to match the tone of their skin, these women attempt to combat unhealthy beauty standards. The goal of this series is to celebrate the strength in unity, the beauty in diversity and the power in community.

A LETTER TO THE VIEWER
The hope is that this work didn't spread because, in a world saturated with content, these are just more aesthetic images.
Instead, the hope is that it gained traction because it was able to speak to something that we all know deep down to be true:
The strength in unity. The beauty in diversity. The power in community.
These are truths we need so much in our world today.
If this is the case, and if this is part of the reason that this work has reached so many, then it is a testament that, contrary to what can feel to be overwhelming disconnect and pain, people want to come together.
To the women featured in these photos, thank you. You were freezing and tired. Most of you didn't know the woman behind the camera, the creative team or a majority of the women standing alongside you.
You put a lot of trust in our team to
capture moments that were at once intimate, vulnerable and respectful.
You are each so amazing. This series was brought into reality because of each woman that showed up.
Thank you.
Before closing, it's important to note that as beautiful as these ideas are, they will not be our reality until we translate our thoughts into action.
It is one thing to celebrate unity in words. It's another to work for it in deeds.
"The purpose of justice is the appearance of unity among men."
